Usual transport prices in Las Terrenas

Updated on October 4, 2026

<p>How much is a taxi or a moto-taxi in Las Terrenas? Fewer sources answer that than you might expect. We found no official taxi fare list for Las Terrenas, and no airport transfer prices published by identifiable sources. This page gathers the little that exists: <strong>third-party observations</strong> (Lonely Planet, undated text) and <strong>official national ranges</strong>. They are indicative, they are not quotes, and they may be out of date.</p> <h2>Prices observed in Las Terrenas</h2> <p>All pages accessed on October 4, 2026.</p> <table> <thead> <tr> <th>Trip</th> <th>Observed price</th> <th>Unit</th> <th>Source</th> <th>Source date</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – Playa Bonita, taxi</td> <td>US$15</td> <td>Per vehicle; one way or round trip not stated</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – Playa Bonita, moto-taxi</td> <td>RD$200</td> <td>Per ride; one way or round trip not stated</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – Playa Cosón, taxi</td> <td>US$40</td> <td>Per vehicle, round trip</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – Playa Cosón, moto-taxi</td> <td>RD$300</td> <td>Per ride; one way or round trip not stated</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – El Limón, guagua</td> <td>RD$50</td> <td>Per person, round trip</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Terrenas – El Limón, taxi</td> <td>US$40</td> <td>Per vehicle; one way or round trip not stated</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Salto El Limón tour (horse, guide and lunch)</td> <td>US$30 to US$55</td> <td>Per person</td> <td>Lonely Planet</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>This is undated guidebook text, probably several years old: useful for a rough idea, not as a current price.</p> <h2>Official national ranges</h2> <p>These ranges come from the official Dominican Republic tourism site and apply to the whole country, not specifically to Las Terrenas. Page accessed on October 4, 2026.</p> <table> <thead> <tr> <th>Service</th> <th>Stated price</th> <th>Unit</th> <th>Source</th> <th>Source date</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Moto-taxi within a town</td> <td>RD$25 to RD$75, depending on distance</td> <td>Per ride</td> <td>Official tourism site</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Concho (shared taxi)</td> <td>RD$25 to RD$50, depending on distance</td> <td>Per person</td> <td>Official tourism site</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Taxi within a town</td> <td>From RD$150; about US$5 for most in-town destinations</td> <td>Per vehicle, one way</td> <td>Official tourism site</td> <td>Undated</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>The same source says in-town taxi fares are set by the taxi association, and advises asking for the fare to your destination to be confirmed.</p> <h2>Official tolls</h2> <p>Per-passage amounts for category 1 (two-axle vehicles) published by RD Vial, checked on October 4, 2026. They may change.</p> <table> <thead> <tr> <th>Toll station</th> <th>Road</th> <th>Category 1</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>Marbella</td> <td>Autopista del Nordeste, km 10</td> <td>RD$100</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Guaraguao</td> <td>Autopista del Nordeste, km 69</td> <td>RD$200</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Naranjal</td> <td>Autopista del Nordeste, km 145</td> <td>RD$200</td> </tr> <tr> <td>El Catey</td> <td>Autopista del Nordeste (Juan Pablo II), km 225</td> <td>RD$400</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Coral 1</td> <td>Autopista El Coral, km 18</td> <td>RD$100</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Coral 2</td> <td>Autopista El Coral, km 52</td> <td>RD$100</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Las Américas</td> <td>Autopista Las Américas, km 22</td> <td>RD$100</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>Marbella has charged RD$100 since January 15, 2025 (RD$60 before), according to El Caribe. Which stations a trip passes depends on the route, so we don't add them up. Before comparing two prices, ask whether they include tolls.</p> <h2>What we don't publish</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Samaná–Sabana de la Mar boat:</strong> we found only one fare, in an undated guidebook text (Rough Guides), and no official source confirms the service runs today.</li> <li><strong>Taxi from El Catey to Las Terrenas and airport transfers:</strong> only forums or booking platforms, which we don't use as sources. Price <strong>on request</strong>.</li> <li><strong>Moto-taxis within town:</strong> no Las Terrenas-specific fare beyond the national range and the Lonely Planet observations above.</li> </ul> <h2>How to read the fares on our pages</h2> <p>Every fare published on a carrier or route page shows:</p> <ul> <li>the <strong>amount, currency and unit</strong>: per vehicle, per person, per hour or per day. A per-person price is never shown as a per-vehicle price;</li> <li>whether it is <strong>one way or round trip</strong>, and the vehicle's capacity when known;</li> <li><strong>tolls</strong>: included, not included or to be confirmed;</li> <li><strong>extras</strong> (night, bulky luggage, surf or kite board, child seat, waiting, extra stop, pet), with their amount or "to be confirmed";</li> <li>the <strong>date and method of the check</strong>: read on the carrier's public page, collected from an indexed copy, confirmed by the carrier, or entered by our team.</li> </ul> <p>Currently, a fare is flagged <strong>"To be reconfirmed"</strong> once its last check is more than 7 days old, and after 30 days it drops out of comparisons and estimates, although the record is kept. Currency conversions carry the ≈ sign and the date of the rate used. The amount shown is neither a quote nor a confirmation of availability: our team confirms the price with you on WhatsApp.</p> <p><strong>Per person or per vehicle.</strong> A per-person price is multiplied by the number of passengers; a per-vehicle price covers the group, within the stated capacity. Always compare like with like.</p> <h2>Exchange rate</h2> <p>The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic publishes reference buying and selling rates for the US dollar on its "Tasa de cambio de referencia" page (bancentral.gov.do), calculated as a weighted average of spot-market transactions. The latest rate we recorded is for Friday, October 2, 2026: RD$59.8986 buying and RD$60.4545 selling per dollar, as reported by Revista Mercado from the Central Bank. It is an indicative reference: check the Central Bank page before you do any sums, and bear in mind that the rate you actually get may differ. We don't convert old guidebook prices: a dollar price from years ago says nothing about what the trip costs in pesos today.</p> <h2>Get a current price</h2> <p>For your trip, send a <a href="/en/request/" rel="noopener">request</a>; only your WhatsApp number is required.
