How Terrenas Taxi works

Terrenas Taxi is a transport request platform for getting around Las Terrenas (Samaná peninsula) and for getting there: taxis, airport transfers, private drivers, long-distance rides, buses and guaguas, group shuttles, moto-taxis and other services. It is operated by THERD SRL. We are not a carrier: we help you find one and arrange your ride with clear information.

1. You send a request

The request form comes in two versions:

Quick form: departure, destination, date and your WhatsApp number.

Full form: you can also give the type of transport, one way or return, times, your flight number, passengers (adults and children), luggage, surf or kite boards, bikes, a child seat, an accessibility need, your preferred vehicle, your budget, your language and a message.

Either way, only your WhatsApp number is required. There is no account to create and no online payment.

2. Our team contacts you on WhatsApp

Your request is received by our team, not by a carrier. We message you on WhatsApp to clarify what is missing (time, luggage, flight number…) and to explain the available options.

Requests are handled during the team's working hours; a request sent outside those hours is handled later. This is why we cannot guarantee an immediate pick-up: if you already know your travel date, send your request as early as possible.

3. We ask carriers, only with your agreement

To get you a price and availability, we contact the carriers that suit your trip only if you agree. You can give your agreement by ticking the optional box to share your request (unticked by default) or by replying on WhatsApp, in which case our team records it.

We only pass on what the ride requires: route, date and time, number of passengers, luggage and special needs, flight number. Your phone number, email address and full name are not passed on without your agreement.

We then send you a proposal and you decide. A request is not a confirmed booking: nothing is booked until you accept the proposal and the carrier confirms it.

How we show prices

Fares come from public sources or from the carriers themselves. Each one shows:

its date and how it was checked;

its unit: per vehicle, per person, per hour or per day, one way or return. A per-person price is never shown as a per-vehicle price;

when known, the vehicle's capacity, any extras and whether tolls are included.

A fare that could not be checked in the last 7 days is labelled “To be reconfirmed”. After 30 days without a check, it is removed from comparisons and calculations. When no fare is published or the rules are unclear (capacity, child fare, return trip…), we show “On request”: we would rather say so than make up a price.

The amount shown is neither a quote nor a confirmation of availability. The price that counts is the one we confirm before you accept.

Sponsored spots, our own services and independence

Spots paid for by a carrier are always labelled “Sponsored”, appear in a separate block and never change the real order of the lists.

Services offered directly by the platform operator are labelled “Terrenas Taxi service”.

All other carriers are independent businesses: they are not Terrenas Taxi employees or platform partners, unless their listing carries the “Platform partner” label. Appearing in the carrier directory is neither a recommendation nor a guarantee.

Safety tips

Agree on the price, the currency and what is included before getting in the vehicle.

Do not pay a stranger in advance.

Check that the vehicle matches the one announced.

If something goes wrong with a carrier, tell us on the report a carrier page.

In case of an accident or immediate danger, call 911. This site and its forms are not an emergency service.

In short

No account, no online payment and no commitment: you send a request, we contact you on WhatsApp and you decide with all the information in hand. Any questions? See the FAQ or browse the routes.
