Cabarete and the north coast

According to the official tourism website, Cabarete is one of the north-coast destinations close to Puerto Plata's Gregorio Luperón airport, along with Cofresí, Playa Dorada and Sosúa. So you can combine this trip with a flight from that airport: see Puerto Plata – Las Terrenas.

Your options

Private transfer: a car with a driver, door to door, for a family or a couple. See long-distance rides.

Group minibus: for several people, or lots of gear, one large vehicle can be simpler than two cars. See group shuttles.

Public transport: we have not verified any bus and guagua combination between Las Terrenas and Cabarete; check the verified schedules.

Driving yourself: self-drive rental is on rentlasterrenas.com.

How long does it take?

We have found no distance or journey time published by a reliable source between Las Terrenas and Cabarete. The carrier gives you an estimate when confirming, based on the itinerary and stops.

Travelling with boards, bikes and lots of luggage

We have found no published rules on carrying surfboards or kites in taxis or transfers. To avoid surprises, tell us in your request:

how many boards or kite bags you have and their approximate length;

any bikes, and whether they can be taken apart;

the total number of suitcases.

That way the carrier can offer a vehicle where everything fits (inside or securely on the roof) and a price that reflects it.

Price: per vehicle or per person

For a group, the unit changes the total: a per-vehicle price is shared, a per-person price is multiplied. We know of no published fare for this route; also ask whether tolls, stops and waiting are included, and which currency you pay in.

What to put in your request

departure address in Las Terrenas and destination in Cabarete;

date and time, and whether you have a flight to catch in Puerto Plata;

adults and children, with ages: according to INTRANT, Law 63-17 provides for a child seat or booster up to age 12;

luggage and gear;

an easy-to-find landmark (hotel, school, restaurant) if your address in Cabarete is not well known.

Staying safe

Agree the price and what it includes before setting off.

Never pay a stranger in advance, and check the vehicle is the one announced.

In an emergency, call 911.

Request your transfer

Send your request: our team, which is not a carrier, looks for an available one and replies on WhatsApp; a request is not a booking.
