Landing in Punta Cana and heading for Las Terrenas means a long road trip to the Samaná peninsula. Here are the options, the published tolls and the questions to ask before you accept a price.

<h2>The airport</h2>
<p>Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is privately owned, according to Wikipedia. The official tourism website places it near the Punta Cana and Cap Cana areas, Bávaro, El Cortecito and Arena Gorda, as well as Macao and Uvero Alto. If you are leaving from a hotel in one of those areas rather than from the airport, say so: the pick-up time and place change.</p>
<h2>How long does it take?</h2>
<p>We have found no reliable published distance or journey time for the road trip from Punta Cana to Las Terrenas. Be wary of very short journey times circulating online: some do not say whether they refer to the road or to another means of transport. The carrier gives you an estimate when confirming.</p>

<h2>Tolls</h2>
<p>The trip may involve several tolls. For example, the Fideicomiso RD Vial publishes RD$100 for category 1 at the Coral 1 (km 18) and Coral 2 (km 52) stations on the Autopista del Coral, and at the Las Américas station (km 22 of the highway of the same name), according to its pages checked on 4 October 2026. No official source says exactly which stations this trip goes through, and we have not found the current rates for the Autopista del Este. Ask whether the price includes all tolls; rates may change.</p>

<li>If your flight lands late in the day, you can stay the night in the Punta Cana area and ask to be picked up at your hotel the next day: we have no reliable data on night-time transport.</li>
<li>Check the driver's name and the vehicle before getting in; never pay a stranger in advance.</li>
<li>Agree the total price, the currency and what is included (tolls, stops, waiting).</li>
<li>In an emergency, call 911.</li>
